Precious Jesus

"Afresh, precious, precious Jesus, I resign this body to You, for doing or suffering, for living or dying. Will You accept it? Will You use me for Your glory more than heretofore, that You may have some little return for all the benefits You have done to me? Oh, do grant this request; my heart longs for it, my spirit pleads for it; and "if You will, You can." You know the hot temptation of which I am the subject. Bring Your glory out of it, and keep me from the evil, and it shall be well." - Ruth Bryan

Paul Washer * this blog does NOT endores beginningofsorrows blog or its owner*

It gives me no pleasure to write this, but write it I must. The alternative is entirely too close to denying Christ by allowing silence to rule, in the name of not naming names. Silence is nothing more than tacit agreement with the enemies of Christ, complicity in the highest.

Paul Washer was once revered by many, an alternative "go-to-guy" for truth and direction in the midst of thousands of heretical voices spewing their poison in the name of Jesus Christ. I read his books, listened to dozens of his sermons, and contributed to HeartCry as I could. But all this stopped five or six years ago when PW's affiliation with Luis Palau became public. I complained to HeartCry and received no response. Shortly thereafter all reference to LP & PW disappeared, not just from PW's website, but the internet completely. As the story goes PW had aligned himself and HeartCry with a seminary in South America; I do not recall the name of the seminary or the country where it was located. I had hoped that PW had come to his senses and disavowed LP who is a flaming ecumenical in his own right (RCC/Jesuit sympathizer at best), but such is not the case.

Fast forward to today and find Paul Washer and HeartCry up to the same old deceit, ecumenical style. His latest foray into the things of the antichrist find PW & HC affiliated with Martin Bucer Seminary in Brazil whose president is Thomas Schirrmacher, Mr. RCC/Jesuit tag-along himself. You can find the whole disgusting story, the lies told to cover up such an obvious mockery of the Lord, and many of the players involved at: http://beginningofsorrows.org/ . The reasons given for the advancement of satan's kingdom by this new alliance are laughable to the born again, and all too readily accepted by those who still walk in darkness.

I hear the objections already: 'Paul is just an errant brother, going through a tough time'; 'we should pray fro him.' The reality is that we are being shown PW's true colors and no matter how much one may think that we are to 'cut him some slack', to do so would be an insult to the Lord. If repentance is in his future, God will grant it; in the mean time be careful which 'side' you take, least you also be found wanting. 1 Cor. 5 is a key chapter to know and understand. The man was delivered to satan for the destruction of his flesh, but God had mercy on him and gifted him repentance. Whose to say whether PW will be afforded the same grace? There was evidence of the man's repentance, but all we get from Washer et al is full steam ahead. Those that opt for the "years of service, the books, the sermons, the conferences, etc." instead of the integrity of the Lord Jesus Christ (which is most definitely being called into question) and the sureness of the faith once for all delivered to the saints are exposing their allegiance to their idol and not Jesus Christ. Yes, it is that simple.

I found an interesting quote by 'sola scriptura' (a screen name) where he said: "The biggest problem with Christianity is that people refuse to be corrected." Perhaps he is more right than he originally intended. I would be hard pressed to use five fingers to count those who even remotely consider that their statements, stances, biblical interpretations, etc. MAY need to be reviewed, muchless totally renovated. But it goes further than that. Do we receive the correction of our Father, or do we seek to exonerate ourselves and run from His disciplines (Heb.12)?

Some may chalk up PW as one who (as a brother in Christ) is part of the apostasy, the great falling away, meaning that you and I have the same possible fate in our future. Really? Name one disciple that Jesus lost to perdition, then and now----------be very careful! The answer is none, ever, for all of eternity. If PW is of the elect he WILL repent and not under a basket or hidden from the eyes of those who know God. Unless and until there is repentance I shall consider his alliances, his own words, the company he keeps (all very questionable), the excuses he allows to be spoken for his current trek into the realm of the antichrist, and his refusal to be corrected (by man or God) as the actions of man who does not know God (nor is known by Him) and is therefore His enemy.

The Deceitfulness of Sin

It would be impossible to cover all the ways that a man can be deceived by sin. But it is imperative that believers have a good working knowledge of sin's allure, it's basis in our nature, and the outcome of sin left unchecked. James 1 gives us the "formula", progression, and end game of our sins. V.14: "But every man is tempted when he is drawn away of his own lust and enticed." The nature of all the fallen from Adam to present day is the same: sin permeates every thought, action, word, deed, intent, etc. It is not just a part of the fabric of our life; IT IS the fabric of our life. Sin is well practiced in keeping this knowledge from fallen man to the point that such talk is rejected without consideration. This makes man an easy prey for his lusts as he willfully and joyfully participates in more and more sin with little to no 'twinge' of conscience, probably due to the fact that sin has so encrusted his life that what little conscience he may have left has been seared with a hot iron leaving him numb to any thought of wrong doing. No one is exempt from this; even the elect suffer through this right up until the appointed time of their regeneration. The progression continues in V. 15: "Then when lust has conceived, it brings forth sin; and sin, when it is finished, brings forth death." What a hopeless fate awaits those caught in this vicious cycle. But God has mercy on His own! The lost cannot see his predicament, especially those of any religious persuasion, as they go about seeking to establish their own form of righteousness as Cain did. In their quest to conform God to their way of thinking they invoke His Name, even His Power and Authority (Matt. 7:21-23) in the name of their fantasy religion/theology not knowing the deception that has engulfed them. They believe themselves to be the holders and guardians of truth and their subjects to be ignorant and in need of leadership. Their lust for acceptance by their contrived god is their undoing and the masses that follow them are just as deceived as their so called leaders. Sin promises pleasure, but is only able to fulfill that promise in a flash of time, leaving the person hungry for more while they languish away in a desperate quest for more it soon becomes obvious that no amount of sin will ever be enough. It has deceived us, hooked us, and will destroy us, but it's deception will not allow anyone to realize this until it is too late and death has claimed it's own.

Thank God that He has delivered His chosen ones from the power of sin, it's allure, it's hold, it's consequences. When Christ said that the elect could not be deceived He was speaking specifically concerning Who He was and the pretenders who would come in His Name; that we were to not be deceived into thinking that any such pretender was Christ Himself (Matt. 24:23 & 24). Yet He and Paul warned us many times to beware, lest we be deceived. If anyone believes that Christ came to bring peace on earth, he is deceived, believer and non-believer alike (Matt. 10:34 & 35). In 1 Cor. 3:16-18 we find that we are the temple of God and that if "anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him." Yet it seems that many who claim to be "saved" think they can sin as they like without consequence, eternal or temporal, because their sins have (supposedly) been forgiven. But the admonition of V. 18 is this: "Let no one deceive himself." Make no mistake about it, all too many who name His Name as a believer or follower, or whatever they call themselves can be deceived by sin. Eph. 5: 5 & 6 is another present day example of those that find ways to excuse the sins of themselves and/or others and thereby deceive themselves and the ones they speak to. Think yourself impervious to the deceptions of sin? Think again! "If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us." 1 John 1:8 is speaking to believers as is the entire Book. "But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill it's lusts." Rom. 13:14. Would we deceive ourselves by saying we no longer have a problem with the lusts of our flesh? Many do. Would we sneak about as if God does not see us and secretly make provision for our favorite sin that we have yet to crucify? Who is not guilty? Lord, help us! Romans 7 is the plight of every Christian, the pleading of the heart to rid us of our attraction to sin; "sin deceived me." The very thought that we are now immune to the allure of our own lusts is the height of deception, generated from an out of control ego that seeks to de-throne God at every opportunity. Have we gotten it into our head that we can handle our life on our own, void of the grace of  God? To read what some write that is the only conclusion plausible. The last verse of Judges sums it all up, even for us today: "In those days there was no king in Israel; everyone did what is right in his own eyes." Christ is no longer sufficient, even for those that write and speak about Him. He is left out in the cold, not consulted or even alluded to by most; their ego is in charge and nothing else matters. To the world Christendom is in shambles, evangelicalism a joke, the Bible worthless, and the Leader, Jesus Christ is One to be mocked, ridiculed, and cursed at every turn. The silence of too many "Christians" is deafening and unacceptable. We have been told to "expose the evil" (Eph. 5:11) and how many chose rather to hide under the basket, take the "high road" of silence not knowing that their closed mouth is a trumpet in agreement with the enemies of Christ? Protecting their perceived stance before their fellows is more important to them than defending the Faith once for all delivered to the saints. Such are deceived.

May the Lord heel our blindness, and open our hearts to Him as we lay ourselves bare before Him in humility and repentance-----------------Psa. 139:23 &24.

Blindness

Isaiah 6:9 & 10 is quoted in part or in whole no less than six times in the NT. It is a stark reminder of the utter depravity of every man born of woman and the complete, unabridged Sovereignty of Almighty God. The Biblical principle of man's blindness is set forth here and in other Scriptures; likewise, the complete control by the Creator over His creation. Mankind bristles at the thought of any 'inability' on his part whether perceived or in fact, especially that of blindness. Those steeped in their own pride, with no fear of God whatsoever, spread their brand of poison to others who readily take up banner of living without God. They claim to "see" but theirs is the darkest brand of blindness inflicted upon them by the One who made them a "vessel of dishonor" (Rom. 9:21). There is no man who ever took a breath that was not born spiritually blind, a part of the death passed on to all who came from Adam. A state in which all men will remain apart from the intervention of the God who made him. And oh how He intervenes! Eph. 2:1-7 details this action taken by the Lord for those He has chosen from before the foundation of the world. As He has declared many times this intervention is specific for each individual and limited to those whose names have been written in the Lamb's Book of Life. Those that are filled with themselves scream the loudest, exhibiting no fear of God at all, never giving glory to their Creator as they mock Him with their every word. Blindness on display.

The story of the man born blind in John 9 is a prime example. Physically blind from birth and spiritually blind as well, there was nothing he could do to help himself out of either plight. The Lord Jesus spoke of this man's dilemma in v. 3-5: this man was born blind so that Christ could do the work of His Father by restoring his physical sight as well as his spiritual sight---all to the glory of God. How often do we consider our 'lot in life' to be harsh, more than we can bear, and complain that our prayers seem to fall on deaf ears? [I'm the world's worst] Yet who in their right mind would change their circumstances for a 'bed of roses' style of life and live out their days without Christ? What a horror to even consider such a thing! But this is the same type of narcissistic blindness that the lost world has been given over to by the Potter. For these there is no remedy, in part or in whole. They have been assigned to the Pit, no escape, no appeal, no shortening of eternity, no forgiveness---an unimaginable horror. But we, the Elect, have been shown mercy, forgiveness, and love from our God and Savior Jesus Christ; our eternity is set forever with Him in His Glory. As I ask myself, so it is fitting to ask others: do we thank Him enough for what He has done? I cannot make such a claim. "In everything give thanks" and especially for the gift of salvation. God help us to not neglect this our duty to Him.

To be sure, the lost are kept in their blindness on purpose by the will of God as seen in Matt. 13:11-17. "...it has not been given to them" to know and understand the mysteries of heaven, but it has "been given" to His disciples, then and now to know the mysteries of heaven. Why does the Father do this? because "it seemed good in His sight" Matt. 11:25 & 26; and further in v. 27 we see the Elect being elected as it pleased the Son. When Peter was asked who Jesus was his reply is seen as being revealed to him only by the Father, not from himself or other men, Matt. 16:15-18. John 12:37-40 shows us that the lost "could not believe" because of the prophecy of Isaiah 6:9 & 10. Yet for all of this the objectors double their blasphemies, their insults, and their mockery of God in order to justify their fantasies as to who is entitled to heaven in their eyes. Isaiah continues this theme in Isa. 29:9 & 10; 44:18 and in 42:6 & 7 declares the reason for Christ's coming to earth in human flesh, not the least of which is "to open blind eyes." The contrast between believers and unbelievers is drawn simply and plainly in John 3: 18-21, but only believers are capable of understanding these verses. And yet for all of this the Lord has no pleasure in the death of the wicked and moaned over Jerusalem because of their unwillingness to come to their Savior. It is by His Sovereign Mercy that believers are made willing and enabled to believe the Gospel, while this same gift of Mercy is withheld from the vessel of wrath.

We find another type of blindness that occurs in believers. It would be easy to point the finger at our 'hardness of heart' but the examples given in Scripture do not seem to bear this out entirely, though it may be a contributing factor. As the Lord does everything according to the 'good pleasure of His will' this too, is best explained by His "good pleasure." The day we were saved we did not receive a massive data dump and become instantly aware of everything concerning our Lord or His Word. It has been a learning process and will continue as such probably throughout eternity. "Line upon line, precept upon precept" we are taught things by the Holy Spirit as He sees fit. When something new is revealed to us by Him in His Word were we not 'blind' to it until the moment of revelation? Of course we were. Was our former 'blindness' due to a hard heart or the sequence of teaching by the Holy Spirit? The latter, obviously. There is nothing our Lord does in us that is not without purpose, whether we see His purpose or not. The two on the road to Emmaus were 'left in the dark' on purpose by the Lord Jesus right up until it was time for their eyes to be opened in the breaking of bread (Luke 24:13-35). Later in Luke 24:45 it is said that Jesus "opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures." This was relating to His death and resurrection, something that they did not understand heretofore despite the fact He told them many times of these things. At the Tomb, Mary did not recognize Jesus until He spoke her name (John 20:14-16). The fishing disciples did not recognize Him until John spoke up (John 21:3-7). Then there is the mutilated interpretation of 1 Cor. 2:9 where believers are supposed to remain ignorant (to the point of stupid) concerning "the things God has prepared for those who love Him." According to some we are to remain in some sort of 'ignorant bliss' state probably forever, taught only by the highly educated "pastor" who indoctrinates his flock on a weekly basis. Thank God this is not so! This lie is handily destroyed by John 16:13 and the next verse in 1 Cor. 2:10 "But God has revealed them to us by His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes the deep things of God." This is NOW folks, not in some other millennia. Don't be afraid of the 'meat of the Word' for if you were not ready for it would not be placed in front of you to enjoy. As for our "hardness of heart" the Lord is more than capable to dismantle a stubborn heart via His "chastening" and "scourging" we see in Heb. 12. And like everything He does for us, it is for our good.

Out from the darkness

I believe when families are dysfunctional and break down, society soon follows. Cal recently left a comment on one of my posts -https://iamhis-lyn.blogspot.com/2008/11/my-testimony-up-until-fall-of-2003-i.html. I visited Cal's blog and read a couple of his posts, including this one. It broke my heart....

“He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.”
Psalm 40:2
The Lord came and saved me 40 years ago in February, and it was an evening I shall never forget, it is forever etched in the depths of my heart…..my soul the night the Lord invaded my life…….
Joh 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
Joh 1:13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
It was the beginning of setting me free from the bondage of the homosexual life, and the forgiveness of living such a sinful lie.   It’s been over sixteen years, since He began to deal with the hidden secrets of the sexual abuse and the affects it’s had in and upon my natural and spiritual life.

“When my father and my mother forsake me……………  “
Psalm 27:10(a)
The scripture above explains the reality of my life experience, my parents failed me in a most traumatic manner.   I suffered from sexual, emotional, and physical abuse at the hands of my mother, and other adults, emotional, and abandonment issues from my self-serving father, an adulterer, who loved his women, and a life of pleasure above his two sons.

I also encourage the reading of Cal's testimony at https://intochristsfullness.wordpress.com/about/

We are all vile sinners, perhaps some of us more so than others. I know the shame associated with sexual immorality, I also know the marvelous grace shown by God, the love of Christ that brings us out of the darkness and frees us! What a glorious God we serve, a God that sets His love on vile sinners and frees and cleanses them. Truly amazing

Another case of compromise

From journeying to Christ...

My husband just shared something with me that I was unaware of. A popular country/'Christian' singer was faced with discovering his daughter is a lesbian.

As a parent I can only guess at what he went through and the tough decisions he had to struggle with. As a called out child of Christ I know what my stance would be in that situation.

I do not know what went on behind closed doors for this singer, nor do I know how much of the statements made are for public relations purposes. Let's face it, anyone that makes their living off catering to other people, entertaining them, keeping them happy in order to keep their own status elevated, would take public relations into account when they gave their response. Whatever their private response was, they would always have the public to consider when responding publicly.

The drawing and compelling of God- A.W. Pink

"THE DRAWING & COMPELLING OF GOD"
"Here is the truth: God has spread the feast but the fact is that NOBODY is hungry, and NOBODY wants to come to the feast, and EVERYBODY makes an excuse to keep away from the feast. and when they are bidden to come they say, “No, we do not want to”, or “We are not ready yet.”
Now God knew that from the beginning, and if God had done nothing more than spread the feast every seat at His table would have been vacant for all eternity! I have no hesitation in saying there is not one man or woman in this church tonight, but who made excuses time after time before you first came to Christ.
You are just like the rest. You made excuses, so did I, and if God had done nothing more than just spread the feast every chair would have been vacant, therefore what do you read in that parable in Luke 14? Because the feast was not furnished with guests God sent forth His “servants”. Oh, put your glasses on. It does not say “servants”, it says God sent forth His “servant” and told Him to “COMPEL” them to come in that His feast might be furnished with guests. And there is not a man or a woman in this church tonight or in any other church that would ever sit down at the marriage-supper of the Lamb unless you had been COMPELLED TO COME IN, and COMPELLED BY GOD!
Well, you say, what do you mean by “compelled?” I mean this, that God had to overcome the resistance of your will, God had to overcome the reluctance of your heart, God had to overcome your loving of pleasure more than loving of God, your love of the things of this world more than Christ. I mean that God had to put forth His power and draw you, and if any of you know anything of the Greek or have a Strong’s Concordance, look up that Greek verb for “draw” in John 6:44, “No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him” —
It means “use violence”. It means to drag by force. There is not a Greek scholar on earth that can challenge that statement—I mean—and back it up with proof. It’s the same Greek word that is used in John 21 when they drew the net to the land full of fishes. They had to pull with all their might for it was full of fishes. They had to drag it!
Yes, my friend, and THAT is how you were brought to Christ. You may not have been conscious of it. You may not have known inside yourself what was taking place, but every last one of us was a rebel against God, fighting against Christ, resisting His Holy Spirit, and God had to put forth almighty power and overcome that resistance and bring us to our knees, and if any of you object to that strong language, then I am here to tell you, you do not believe in the teaching of this Book on the ABSOLUTE DEPRAVITY OF MAN.
Man is lost, and man is dead in trespasses and sins by nature. Listen, it is not simply that man is sick and needs a little medicine: it is not simply that man is ignorant and needs a little teaching: it is not simply that man is weak and needs a little hope: man is dead, dead in trespasses and sins, and only almighty power from heaven can ever resurrect him and bring him from death unto life.
THAT is the gospel I believe in and I do not preach the gospel because I believe the sinner has power in himself to respond to it. Well, you say, then what is the use of preaching the gospel if men are dead? What is the use of preaching it? I will tell you. Listen! Here was a man with a withered hand, paralyzed, and Christ says. “Stretch forth thine hand!” It was the one thing that he could not do! Christ told him to do a thing that was impossible in himself. Well then you say why did Christ tell him to stretch forth his hand? Because Divine power went with the very word that commanded him to do it! Divine power enabled him to. The man could not do it of himself. If you think that he could you are ready for the lunatic asylum, I don’t not care who you are. Any man or woman here who thinks that that man was able to stretch forth his paralyzed arm by an effort of his own will is ready for the lunatic asylum! How can paralysis move?
Well, I will give you something stronger than that. You need something strong today, you need something more than SKIM-MILK, you need STRONG MEAT if ever you are going to be built up and grow and become strong in the Lord and the power of His might—
Here is a man who is dead and buried and his body has already begun to corrupt so that it stank. There he was in the grave and someone came to that graveside and said, “Lazarus. come forth”, and if that someone had been anyone else than God Himself manifest in flesh. He might have stood there till now calling, “Come forth”. What on earth was the use of telling a dead man to come forth? None at all, unless the One Who spoke that word had the power to make that word good.
Now then my friends, I preach the gospel to sinners, not because I believe the sinner has any power at all in himself to respond to it: I do not believe that any sinner has any capacity in himself whatever. But Christ said, “the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit and they are life”, and by God’s grace I go forth preaching this Word because it is a word of power, a word of spirit, a word of life.
THE POWER IS NOT IN THE SINNER, IT IS IN THE WORD WHEN GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT IS PLEASED TO USE IT.
And my friends, I say in all reverence; if God told me in this Book to go out and preach to the trees. I would go! Yes sir. God once told one of His servants to go and preach to bones and he went. I wonder if YOU would have gone! Yes, that has a local application as well as a future interpretation prophetically."

The Jesuit Pope lies to a little boy

Satan disguises himself as an angel of light, this minion of Satan just lied to this young boy concerning his atheist father. It would be better for a millstone to be tied around this evil man's neck. The errors in his speech are numerous; what an evil man the Pope is!

The absolute essential importance of RIGHT doctrine

The absolute essential importance of RIGHT doctrine

Phil. 1:10 - That ye may approve things that are excellent, that ye may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ.

As I was studying this text, I wanted to know the meaning and depth of it. This is what I found…

To approve - put to test, prove, examine; to test/try to show something is acceptable
Excellent - to carry through, to differ, take all the way through to the end, to distinguish fully to show what is better/superior.

I will look into the first part of the text, using cross reference texts to help with the meaning. One such text is Romans 2:18 - And knowest his will, and approvest the things that are more excellent, being instructed out of the law. Here again we have the phrase ‘approvest the things that are more excellent’.  Again, the meaning is the same as in Phil. 1:10, to approve means to test/try. More excellent means the same as the definition given above.

Here is commentary concerning Phil. 1:10 from A. Barnes - That ye may approve things - Margin, "Or, try." The word used here denotes the kind of trial to which metals are exposed in order to test their nature; and the sense here is, that the apostle wished them so to try the things that were of real value, as to discern that which was true and genuine.
That are excellent - Margin: Or, "differ." The margin here more correctly expresses the sense of the Greek word. The idea is, that he wished them to be able to distinguish between things that differed from each other; to have an intelligent apprehension of what was right and wrong - of what was good and evil. He would not have them love and approve all things indiscriminately. They should be esteemed according to their real value. It is remarkable here how anxious the apostle was not only that they should be Christians, but that they should be intelligent Christians, and should understand the real worth and value of objects. ~ A. Barnes

This is from John Gill…
That ye may approve things that are excellent,.... Or "try things that differ". There are some things that differ one from other; as morality and grace, earthly things, and heavenly things, carnal and spiritual, temporal and eternal things, law and Gospel, the doctrines of men, and the doctrines of Christ; all which differ as much as chaff and wheat, as gold, silver, precious stones, and wood, hay, stubble. These are to be tried and proved; they are not to be received without distinction, but should be examined, which is right and best to be chosen and preferred; and to such trial and examination it is necessary that a man should be transformed, by the renewing of his mind, that he should have spiritual light, knowledge, and experience, have his spiritual senses exercised to discern the difference of things, and also the guidance, direction, and influence of the Spirit of God: and this trial must be made, not according to carnal reason, and the judgment and dictates of it; for the most excellent things are above it, and out of its sphere, and therefore judged foolish, and rejected by it; but according to the word of God, the Scriptures of truth, in the light of the divine Spirit, and with spiritual judgment and sense. ~ J. Gill

When studying the word of God, we must NOT let others determine the meaning of any given text. We must test/try what we read with what the word actually says. We must study the word, using the word as scripture interprets scripture, using definitions from the original, but most of all - praying to God for understanding.  Commentary is ok only IF it lines up with the word of God. It must be tested and tried in light of Holy Writ.

A renewed mind results from God and His word, and not from the doctrines of men.  Romans 12:2 is another cross reference verse for Phil. 1:10, ‘And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Again, it is God and His word that renews the mind, which leads to a ‘transformed’ life. The word transformed means ‘change after being with’. The unregenerate are conformed to the world, governed by their own sinful selves, the sinful world and its sinful desires, as well as Satan.
Those who’ve been born again, or from above, are the ONLY ones who will be transformed in their minds. As stated, the ‘agent’ for this transformation is God and His holy word. After ‘being with’ God in His word, we are transformed/changed by that, this is a life-long ongoing process.

How can the elect discern truth from error? There are many false doctrines out there, and many follow them. The difference between the true elect of God and those just playing religion will manifest itself by what you believe and hold as truth. So, the elect will reject that which is false and hold fast to that which is true and dear - all by the sovereign doings and power of God. Those who hold to errors such as free will, infant baptism, decisional regeneration, prove they do not belong to Christ and have not tested/tried that which differs. They are more often than not swayed by the doctrines of men such as Jacob Arminius and Charles Finney - such doctrine appeals to the prideful, sinful flesh. That is why it is palatable. The truth found in God’s word, such as the doctrines of grace, are vehemently rejected and labeled  as ‘Calvinism’. What a horrible sin to accredit God’s truth to a mortal man! Many, many unregenerates will answer to God for doing such. I’ve often heard it said we are all brethren IF we are born again, these same folks will turn right around and fight tooth and nail against the doctrines of grace, denying such teaching as a lie. By doing so, they prove they do NOT possess the new birth.
Many in the ‘Reformed’ camp uphold infant baptism, then tapdance all around that in an effort to prove their doctrine is biblical. They hold to a teaching that originated within the Roman Catholic church. They too prove they do not possess the new birth, for they hold dear to a grievous error. God turns sinners over to strong delusion because they flat out refuse to love the truth. Such ones are NOT part of the elect of God, no matter how hard they try to convince themselves and others. God will never leave His elect in error, He will show us our errors and turn us from such error, using His truth and His Spirit to do so. Pray to always be teachable!!

Those that test and try that which differs are the very ones that are sincere and without offense. Sincere means ‘pure’ - The word properly means, "that which is judged in sunshine" and then "that which is clear and manifest." It is that over which there are no clouds; which is not doubtful and dark; which is pure and bright. The word "sincere" means literally without wax (sine cera); that is, honey which is pure and transparent. - A. Barnes. Right doctrine purifies, keeping the mind in a right frame of thinking. This thinking is in direct opposition to the world, and rightly so.
Without offense - meaning ‘not offending, not causing to stumble, not stumbling.’  Right doctrine produces right thinking, right thinking leads to right understanding and living, which is pleasing to God. It also leads one away from offensive false doctrines, which produce offensive thinking and offensive living. Doctrines such as free will pollute the sinner and cause them to be offensive to Christ. All works based religion is offensive to God, which is why Christ stated “why do you call me Lord Lord and do NOT do what I say?”

How important is right doctrine? Your eternal soul depends on it; only the elect of God possess it.

More stupidity from the SBC

The nation's largest 'Protestant denomination' is calling for a rejection on gay therapy bans. Here is a quote from a recent news story, "A resolution submitted to the Southern Baptist Convention for its annual meeting in Dallas, Texas, has called on the nation's largest Protestant denomination to reject "homosexual identity politics" and state bans on conversion therapy.  Titled "On Ministry and Counseling to Lead People from Homosexuality to Heterosexuality," the resolution, among other things, asks the SBC to "offer loving assistance to people suffering from same-sex attraction, so that they may turn from homosexuality to heterosexuality" and to reject "as heresy any claims that God makes people homosexual." from https://www.christianpost.com/news/so-baptist-resolution-calls-convention-reject-gay-therapy-bans-belief-god-makes-people-gay-224786/
If you take the time to read through this resolution, many red flags will fly- here is another example, 'the Southern Baptist Convention respects and affirms the right for those formerly enslaved by the sin of homosexuality to live celibate lives devoted to God'. So, you can still have a desire for the same sex, just don't act upon it. Yet, Christ tells us in Matthew 5:28, "whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart."  You will be held accountable for your lustful thoughts and desires as well, even if you never act on them.
Here's another example, 'RESOLVED, the Southern Baptist Convention affirms that repentance of the sin of homosexuality, by the power of Christ, removes the stain of the sin of homosexuality on the person's life, and that the follower of Christ living in a new life is embraced in fellowship with the body of Christ, and is considered qualified for the works God has created and called him or her.' What is missing here? Christ frees us from the POWER of sin; I turn to A.W. Pink for deeper insight...
Present salvation from the power of sin consists in, first, delivering us from the love of it, which though begun at our regeneration is continued throughout out practical sanctification. Second, from its blinding delusiveness, so that it can no more deceive as it once did. Third, from our excusing it: “that which I do, I allow not” (Rom. 7:15). This is one of the surest marks of regeneration. In the fullest sense of the word the believer “allows” it not before he sins, for every real Christian when in his right mind desires to be wholly kept from sinning. He “allows” it not fully when doing it, for in the actual committing thereof there is an inward reserve—the new nature consents not. He “allows” it not afterwards, as Psalm 51 evidences so plainly of the case of David.

First, save them from the pleasure or love of sin by bestowing a nature which hates it: this is the great miracle of grace.
Second, save them from the penalty or punishment of sin, by remitting all its guilt: this is the grand marvel of grace.
Third, save them from the power or dominion of sin, by the workings of His Spirit: this reveals the wondrous might of grace.
Fourth, save them from the presence or inbeing of sin: this will demonstrate the glorious magnitude of grace.

Pay close attention to the wording and allow me to point to the stupidity of the SBC, namely  this, "offer loving assistance to people suffering with 'same sex attraction'.  I've underlined what I consider to be the stupidity of this line of thinking by the SBC.

Now, what does 'loving assistance' mean? I am guessing it may reference to 'conversion therapy'. Here is the definition of that phrase, 'the pseudoscientific practice of trying to change an individual's sexual orientation from homosexual or bisexual to heterosexual using psychological or spiritual interventions'.   So the 'goal' of this godless denomination is to change the sexual preference of unregenerate sinners, making homosexuals into heterosexuals. What is gained in this? Is the soul saved IF one is heterosexual? Of course not! There is nothing biblical about 'conversion therapy', for NO MAN can change another. Only GOD can change a heart....period. I am getting sick and tired of these unregenerate religious idiots pretending they can 'fix' things, from the likes of Al Mohler who unites with Mormons to fight for 'traditional marriage', to the SBC who wants to stamp out homosexuality and make everybody heterosexuals. Then all will be 'right' with the world won't it? Of course, the elect of God know better.

I am in NO WAY defending the abomination of homosexuality, for it is an abhorrence to our thrice-holy God.

Let's move on, 'people suffering from 'same sex attraction'. Where in the bible do we find the phrase 'same sex attraction'? Let's use God's terminology shall we? "And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet." Romans 1:27

Those who delve into this abomination are not 'suffering' from something they cannot help! They WILLFULLY CHOOSE to leave that which is natural, meaning 'inborn' in the original language, rejecting that for that which is 'unnatural' or against nature.  God has instilled in all of us the 'natural way' at birth, so homosexuals cannot argue that God made them the way they are.  The bible teaches otherwise.
One of the definitions of 'leaving' is 'abandon'. Now, if one willfully abandons something, how is it they are suffering? It isn't as though they are 'victim' of something outside of themselves or their own control is it? They know what they are doing, and they pursue this sin of homosexuality with ALL their might.
The next part of the verse states 'burned in their lust'.  Here's the meaning, 'to inflame deeply, to set on fire, burn with lust.  Vincent's word studies states this about lust, which is from the Greek word  orexis -'Only here in the New Testament. It is a reaching out after something with the purpose of appropriating it.' To summarize, the homosexual has a deep, intense burning/rage  that causes them to lust, crave, desire, long for the same sex. This is not natural, this is not normal...this is NOT love. This is the result of being given over to a depraved mind by God to the sin you crave.

Commentary from David Guzik points this out -Paul doesn’t even use the normal words for men and women here; he uses the words for male and female, using categories that describe sexuality outside of human terms, because the type of sexual sin he describes is outside of human dignity.
John Gill has a much shorter commentary, one that should instill fear in every homosexual, 'God punishes sin with sin'.

Also concerning Romans 1:27, Matthew Henry says this, "Man being in honour, and refusing to understand the God that made him, thus becomes worse than the beasts that perish, Psa_49:20. Thus one, by the divine permission, becomes the punishment of another; but it is (as it said here) through the lusts of their own hearts - there all the fault is to be laid. Those who dishonoured God were given up to dishonour themselves. A man cannot be delivered up to a greater slavery than to be given up to his own lusts."

Now I will address this, 'so that they may turn from homosexuality to heterosexuality'. Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? then may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do evil. Jeremiah 13:23 Is conversion therapy a 'magic formula' that causes one to stop being immoral? Is being morally upright all that is needed to enter God's kingdom?  Many morally upright people  have died and are  now in hell.

I want to share commentary from David Guzik on Romans 1 - "Paul wrote to a culture where homosexuality was accepted as a part of life for both men and women. For some 200 years, men who openly practiced homosexuality, often with young boys, ruled the Roman Empire.

At times, the Roman Empire specifically taxed approved homosexual prostitution and gave boy prostitutes a legal holiday. Legal marriage between same gender couples was recognized, and even some of the emperors married other men. At the very time Paul was writing, Nero was emperor. He took a boy named Sporus and had him castrated, then married him (with a full ceremony), brought him to the palace with a great procession, and made the boy his "wife." Later, Nero lived with another man, and Nero was the "wife."
Homosexual practice truly is an abomination in our present culture. Statistics tell us that on average 43% of homosexuals say that they have had 500 or more sexual partners in their lifetime, and only 1% of homosexuals say they have had four or less sexual partners in their lifetime.
According the Unites States Department of Health and Human Services, 77% of homosexuals say they have met sexual partners in a city park; 62% in a homosexual bar, 61% in a theater, 31% in a public restroom. Only 28% of homosexuals said that they had known their partners for at least a week before participating in homosexual sex.
Homosexuals often seem to specialize in anonymous sex with no emotional commitment. At one time, London AIDS clinics defined a woman as promiscuous if she had more than six partners in her lifetime. They gave up trying to apply a workable definition to male homosexuals when it became clear that they saw almost no homosexual men who had less than six sexual partners a year."
This is NOT a new 'sin', this abomination has always been a part of this sin cursed world and will continue to be until our Lord comes. Sadly, this abomination no longer carries the shock factor it once did, society has 'accepted' it to a certain degree. But that isn't enough for the militant homosexual agenda. We must stand firm on God's truth when it comes to all sin, and we must follow His word in dealing with sinners. We should never resort to man made methods of trying to 'cure' sinners - the homosexual needs to hear of the thrice holy God that judges righteously, that shows mercy to vile sinners and saves such through Christ and by His grace.

I close with this from Spurgeon, there was a time when Romans 1 was considered a horrifying thing.....
This first chapter of the Epistle to the Romans is a dreadful portion of the Word of God. I should hardly like to read it all through aloud; it is not intended to be so used. Read it at home, and be startled at the awful vices of the Gentile world.” (Spurgeon)

The PCA's Slide into the Homosexual Abyss Accelerates

By Dr. Paul M. Elliott
On June 26-28 a PCA church will host a conference openly embracing "Christian homosexuals."
From the TeachingtheWordBible Knowledgebase
It takes no gifted seer to predict the next step in the PCA's decline - or the next, or the next after that. One only needs to take a clear-eyed look at Scripture and church history.
June 1, 2018 - Fourteen months ago I gave a presentation titled “The Presbyterian Church in America: Its Compromised Past, Present Apostasy, Spiritually Bleak Future, and Lessons to be Learned.” The presentation described four disastrous developments within the PCA. The denomination's downgrade continues, with breathtaking speed, on the trajectories that this presentation described.
One of them was this: “The PCA is on a path that will lead to the official receiving of homosexuals into the membership of the church, and their admission to the Lord’s table and eventually to the offices of the church.” Many scoffed at that idea a little over a year ago. The scoffers must think again.
On July 26-28 2018, the PCA’s Memorial Presbyterian Church in St. Louis will host the Revoice Conference, “Supporting, encouraging, and empowering gay, lesbian, same-sex attracted and other LGBT Christians so they can experience the life-giving character of the historic Christian tradition.” Among the scheduled sessions are these:
  • “Experiencing Intimacy with God & Others as the Antidote for Shame in Your Sexuality”
  • “A Parent’s Unexpected Journey: Navigating Life with Your LGBT Child"
  • "Journey to Embrace: A Conversation on Empowering the Church to Embrace the LGBT+ Community in Fresh Ways”
  • “Mixed-Orientation Marriages That Work: A Panel Discussion”
  • “Coming Out in the Shadow of the Cross: Queer Visibility as Redemptive Suffering”
What the PCA Has Forgotten
Like so many other churches today, the PCA has forgotten that the one true Gospel is the Gospel of repentance:
Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents. (Luke 15:10)
Then He [Jesus] said to them, “Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. And you are witnesses of these things.” (Luke 24:46-48)
But those things which God foretold by the mouth of all His prophets, that the Christ would suffer, He has thus fulfilled. Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that He may send Jesus Christ, who was preached to you before, whom Heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things, which God has spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began. (Acts 3:18-21)
Repent therefore of this your wickedness, and pray God if perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven you. (Acts 8:22)
...but now [God] commands all men everywhere to repent, because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. (Acts 17:30-31)
There is no such person as a “Christian queer” any more than there is such a thing as an unrepentant “Christian murderer,” “Christian idolator,” or “Christian whoremonger” (Revelation 22:15). The only homosexual who will ever enter the Holy City is one who has repented and turned from that abominable sin. As the Holy Spirit declares to the Church through Paul:
Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God....
Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a harlot? Certainly not! Or do you not know that he who is joined to a harlot is one body with her? For “the two,” He says, “shall become one flesh.” But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.
Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's. (1 Corinthians 6:9-11, 15-20)
Apostasy That Demands Separation
Of course, the PCA’s departure from the faith began long ago with its involvement in neo-orthodoxy and neo-evangelicalism – which in turn have roots in Christian academia’s departure from upholding Scripture as the inspired, infallible, Word of God and embrace of a naturalistic view of Scripture as the optional, twistable words of men.
Just as incredible as the PCA’s breathtaking downfall is the insistence by many who claim to uphold the Word of God that they will stay and somehow fight this spiritual devastation through the PCA’s corrupt judicial system. Dear friends, God did not tell us to do that. He told us to leave, and to be a faithful remnant fully separated unto our Father:
Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will dwell in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they shall be My people.”
Therefore “Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you.”
“I will be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.”
Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. (2 Corinthians 6:14-7:1)
Dear reader, if you are still in the PCA – whether pastor, elder, deacon, or regular church member – it is well past time to come out. Christ the coming Judge will honor nothing else. You will be far better off to worship Him in your home if necessary, or with a small group of like-minded true believers in Christ than to remain in fellowship with the PCA’s growing darkness.
As our Lord Himself warned concerning the Sodoms and Gomorrahs of this world, “Remember Lot’s wife” (Luke 17:32).

Let me add, from a post on another blog  speaking out against  being 'celebate', a piece from heretic Piper's 'desiring God' blog  wherein this sin is defended- I left this comment:

"Despite counseling and countless prayers, God has not seen fit to change my orientation." - so God is not faithful and true to His word? Repentance and regeneration will indeed bring the sinner out of their sins. I abhor calling this sexual abomination an 'orientation'. Here lies another way of 'glossing over' sin, we'll just re-label it and make it less offensive!
Homosexuality is an abomination to a thrice holy God, and He commands sinners to repent of ALL their sins. This is NOT an option, it isn't if you feel like it. It is a command from the mouth of the most High God. He will bring you out of sin, out of darkness and into light. The supernatural power of God has brought me out of darkness, including the very sin of lesbianism, and given me freedom from sins' bondage. It's funny how 'Christians' forget the powerful words of Christ found in the Gospel of John, 'If therefore the Son shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed'. {John 8:36}

Piper is another reason why I make it my aim to only follow Christ and ask the Holy Spirit to be my teacher continually. It's also why I think it best not to read much of what passes itself off as 'Christian' in our present day. I do enjoy Pink, Spurgeon, Ryle and the like, but have no modern day 'favorite' that I care to read or listen to.
Good post, we MUST call sin what it is, and proclaim the word of God unadulterated when speaking truth. We cannot re-define sin, it is what it is...an abomination. It is NOT an 'orientation', nor is it 'same sex attraction'. It is an abomination birthed out of the forbidden lust of the heart of a sinner. It is based on selfish lust, not love. It is an abhorrence to a thrice holy God and He will NOT tolerate, nor will He 'wink' at such a disgusting abomination. He commands repentance, there is no alternative choice. The 'church' needs to get a handle on this and quit being lukewarm concerning sin. Good grief, let the word of God be your only guide and source of truth. Sadly, many have been infiltrated with lies and believe this sin is somehow 'different' than other sexual sin. It isn't. It comes from the same source as all sin...the depraved human heart. Those who continue on in it will perish.

Enough of these lukewarm pansies who profess to be 'men of God' when they aren't. May God raise up a man who will stand alone, boldly proclaiming God's word, and not backing down or being wishy- washy. America is in the midst of a famine of the word of the Lord; we must cry out for a revival in the hearts of God's people. May we never compromise!

Revelation 22:17 does not promote free will

Arminians love to trot out Revelation 22:17 in defense of their 'free will 'theology,- 'And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.' KJV
Granted, taking this verse at face value could be construed as saying God allows 'whosoever will' to come.

I looked into this verse, studying the interlinear -  'and the Spirit and the bride say Come And the [one] hearing let him say Come and the [one] thirsting let him come the [one] desiring let him take [the] water of life freely. ' from http://biblehub.com/interlinear/revelation/22-17.htm

The word 'come' is used three times, the first two usages are capitalized. In those instances,  'Come' is second person singular, meaning 'the person[s] being spoken to'. We read of the Spirit and the bride saying 'Come', also him that heareth. ' In the Greek grammatical breakdown of this text, 'Come' is in the imperative mood, meaning 'a command or instruction given to the hearer, charging the hearer to carry out or perform a certain action'. So we see the Spirit, the bride, and he that heareth crying out 'Come' which is capitalized.  Who are they speaking to? If we go back to verse 12, we find the answer, 'And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.'
The Spirit, bride and he that hears are replying to Christ's statement. They are in agreement and urge Him to Come.  They are eager for His coming, longing for it.

'And let him that is athirst come' - notice there is no capitalization. This time 'come' is used in the 3rd person singular, meaning ' the person[s] being spoken of or about. All who thirst are commanded to come to the one being spoken of or about, which is Christ. Again, the usage of 'come' here is in the imperative mood, meaning it is a command and not a choice contingent on man's will.  Thirsting sinners are commanded to come to Him, as are those who are 'desiring'. Let him 'take', a verb that  is also in the imperative mood, it is a command to come to Christ.
In the first two cases of the verb 'Come' being used, it is directed at Christ in anticipation of His second coming. The last instance of 'come' is to those who thirst and desire Him - the command is to come to Him.
The question to the Arminian is this, Who causes sinners to hear? To thirst? To desire? Are all those a spontaneous act of the will of man or the supernatural work of God the Spirit?  It is clear in John chapter 3 God the Spirit is responsible for moving in the heart of sinners, quickening them, drawing them and causing them to thirst and desire the Lord they once hated, rebelled and rejected.

After looking more intently into this text, we now see it has not one thing to do with 'inviting sinners to come' at all. Rather, it is a command to our Lord to return, and a command to those whom the Spirit has caused to  thirst and desire to come to the One who is coming again.
We all cry out in unison, 'Come!'

How Sovereign is Our God?

This subject has been massaged, discussed, manipulated, ignored, deleted, and beat beyond recognition by the lost and imposter "Christians" from the beginning of time. It has been embraced, cherished, believed, and fought for by all the elect of God. The essence of it is simple: God is either totally sovereign in ever aspect or He does not exist at all. Man thinks himself to be clever when he comes up with never ending arguments against this, but all man is doing is showing his ignorance, open rebellion, and disdain for his Creator. Cain is a prime example when he brought his unacceptable offering to the Lord. Make no mistake about Cain, he knew exactly what he was doing was wrong and that he would be rejected but did it anyway in an attempt to show God who the 'boss' really was. Man's "free will" in all it's "glory" was squashed by the Lord. Today's efforts at making null and void the Sovereignty of God follow the same vein. As Cain "allowed" God to be God up to a certain point and no further, so it is today with the logic and reasoning (so-called) of degenerate minds. Man, in his kind wisdom, will allow God to be the Creator just as long as He did it through evolution and the "Big Bang" and the four billion year old pool of goo that started life itself. [A few years ago as these 'scientists' searched for the god-particle and proof of their cherished 'big bang' they discovered that there was no such thing as a 'god-particle' to be found and that the "big bang" was a figment of their imagination and an impossibility, there was no such thing. I read one article about this and nothing since that time. Instead of owning their error, these self appointed gurus of wisdom have 'doubled down' on evolution and their god, the BB, as they worship and serve the creature rather than the Creator as per Rom. 1.] The "scientific" objection to God and His total Sovereignty is to be expected, but the most vehement venom comes from the religious elites of every flavor.

Today's version of "Christian" has taken it upon himself to oppose the Lord he claims to love and serve at every opportunity. Man will not 'allow God' to be Supreme over him, only a dolor of man's demands made upon Him. Some are more bold (and blasphemous) as they declare the Father to be guilty of "cosmic child abuse" when He supposedly "allowed" His Son to be crucified on the cross. By this they show their ignorance of not only the Scriptures, but also the nature and character of God Himself (Isa. 53:10 and Rev. 13:8). From eternity it was and remains the only 'plan of salvation' that Jesus Christ must suffer at the hands of wicked men ACCORDING TO THE SCRIPTURES, be raised from the dead in order to secure the elect to Himself. Man's 'plan of salvation' has as it's lynch pin the ever cherished idol of his "free will" which, in their mind, trumps any vestige of God's Sovereign Will, and this in the face of hundreds of verses that uphold the Almighty on His throne when it comes to who is redeemed and who is not. They go further to accuse Him of making mankind into "robots" that have no say-so when it comes to their eternal fate and by this statement seek to absolve themselves from the responsibility of their own sins. Did they forget that they just falsely accused God and attempted to take away His right to do with His creatures as He pleases? By doing so they attempt to supplant God on His throne with themselves.

To make matters worse now we have those who claim that God loves everyone with "unconditional" love; that He allows His people to remain in their sins and freely practice any abomination they may choose. Those still caught in their sins love this lie, repeat it, live it, and pass it on. Such are imposters, deceived fakers of the faith, evil dogs. It is often objected: "But what about John 3:16?" What about it? The entire chapter is speaking about the difference between the elect and the condemned and now, for the convenience of idol worshippers, we jerk verse sixteen from that vein to make it fall down before our idol of free will and de-throne the Almighty? No thank you. Worse yet, this new idol god is said to 'be love' as they quote 1 John 4:8 "...God is love..." which in their mind means that he loves a person who refuses to repent and seek forgiveness with some sort of "he can't help it" viewpoint, so I'll bring him to heaven with all his sins because I "love" him. By such a thing they make God a partaker of the sins of the object of this love. Further, this god of theirs is complicit with sin and therefore becomes a sinner just like them; who is going to save this "god" from his sins?
This list could go on beyond nausea, so on to the 'main event.'

Just how Sovereign is our God? Beyond all our expectations or imaginations! To know that Jesus Christ not only created all this is and that he holds all things together even now can be difficult to grasp, but the further fact that it was He that willingly laid down His life that we, His chosen ones, may live with Him eternally is beyond comprehension for the natural mind. While securing the salvation of the elect He also destroyed all His enemies (sounds sovereign to me!) and made a public spectacle of them even while on the cross! Col. 1:16 & 17; 1:13-15; John 10:17 & 18 and Col. 2:15. "And you He made alive who were dead in trespasses and sins." By what authority? His own!! And only His! Eph. 2:1 and Col. 2:13 that also states "having forgiven you all trespasses." Again, by His authority only. The first three chapters of Ephesians and the first two of Colossians literally scream that our God is Sovereign and above all others-men, idols, and demons. Overwhelming evidence of His Sovereignty can be found throughout the Bible, as the case is easily made that all sixty six books point man to this fact. Reading the Word with His Sovereignty in mind will cause some verses and whole books to 'jump off the page' as they exalt Him high above all who would supplant Him. The books of Ezra, Nehemiah, and Esther are displays of the Sovereign actions of our Lord for His name and in the lives of all men, elect or condemned. The entire book of Exodus speaks loudly of His Sovereign dealings with Israel and Pharaoh. The one His chosen, the other His 'vessel of dishonor.' Every Judge, every King, every Prophet showcased the Sovereignty of God without falter, even when they sinned. All the Apostles, the disciples, and all the saints born again to this day can attest to our Lord's Sovereign Hand throughout their lives.

The importance of our God being in complete control of all things, all men, all events, etc. cannot be overstated. If He is not, then who is running the show and why is not that entity called "god?" If God (the Trinity) is not in full charge of all things then who raised Christ from the dead? If Christ was not raised from the dead our faith is futile, meaningless, and dead---and so are we! It is a most dangerous endeavor to think of God as having a "limited sovereignty" with parts of His will and character being subject to another; yet this is the prevailing thought and attitude of many that name His Name. How can anyone who thinks such a thing say with certainty "If God be for us, what can man do to me?" Without the certainty that He as God controls everything then fear will take hold that He may not be able to deliver us from our woes. How can we claim to know His peace if we harbor doubts of His ability or willingness to help in time of need? Eventually such doubts will surface about one's final eternal home, if the god whom you serve is not sovereign. If such a doubt is present then today is a good day to examine yourself to see whether you are in the faith or not (2 Cor. 13:5). Self-deceived pretenders abound and few there be that find the narrow gate. Those that do find this narrow gate were lead there by the Sovereign Lord and escorted through it by Him to salvation. The idol of free will knows no such gate, nor it's location.

The Sovereignty of God is the strength, the joy, the peace of the believer. It is more than a doctrine to be embraced, it is totally bound up in the Person, the Character, the unchanging steadfastness of the One who died and rose again that we may know Him. The term "Lord" carries with it the meaning of "Lord of all." May the Lord open our eyes to see His Sovereignty on every page of His Word, every time we read it.

Even so, Come, Lord Jesus!
