Precious Jesus

"Afresh, precious, precious Jesus, I resign this body to You, for doing or suffering, for living or dying. Will You accept it? Will You use me for Your glory more than heretofore, that You may have some little return for all the benefits You have done to me? Oh, do grant this request; my heart longs for it, my spirit pleads for it; and "if You will, You can." You know the hot temptation of which I am the subject. Bring Your glory out of it, and keep me from the evil, and it shall be well." - Ruth Bryan

My times are in your hand!

"My times are in Your hand!Psalm 31:15

Is not this truth a joy to you, my soul?

It would be a sorry thing for me if my times were in my own hands — and it would afford me little satisfaction if my times were in an angel's hands. How restful should I be in knowing that they are in Savior's nail-pierced hands!
He sees the end from the beginning.
He knows how to apportion my sorrows and my joys.
He knows what to give — and what to withhold.
He knows also when to give — and when to take away.

But, alas! how often is my heart mistrustful — how often have I murmured under the trying dispensations of His providence! O my soul, be ashamed and confounded — be humbled in the dust that you should ever call in question the wisdom or kindness of the dealings of Him who so loved you as to give His life for your redemption!

Help me, O God of my salvation, henceforth, with childlike confidence and peaceful trust — to yield all to You, and to rejoice in the assurance that "My times are in Your hand!"

"My times are in Your hand;
Why should I doubt or fear?
My Father's hand will never cause
 His child a needless tear!"

Yes, our times are in His hands. That's a comfort. No one can take you out before your appointed time and no one can keep you here beyond your appointed time. We will each meet with our appointment of death right on schedule, even though we're unaware of that schedule.

Have you noticed the language of the world when some catastrophe happens that involves loss of life...they always question, "Could this have been avoided?" Well, no. God is sovereign over the event and the number of days had ended for the people involved.

And then there are the people who are obsessed with exercise and diet who think they can extend their lives by those means. Have they not seen extreme athletes keel over and die?
Nope. God controls it all. Fit or fat, God has numbered our days.

Its a comfort knowing deaths aren't random. Or catastrophes. God's going to do what God's going to do.

I know my comments are beyond the scope of this article, however, the author offers great consolation to the believer.

Excellent thoughts sister. I marvel at the 'seatbelts save lives' slogan. When man's appointed time comes, death takes them away regardless. The world does not know the God of the bible and His sovereignty.

We are blessed to know Him! From Jeremiah 9:23-Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: 24But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD.
