Precious Jesus

"Afresh, precious, precious Jesus, I resign this body to You, for doing or suffering, for living or dying. Will You accept it? Will You use me for Your glory more than heretofore, that You may have some little return for all the benefits You have done to me? Oh, do grant this request; my heart longs for it, my spirit pleads for it; and "if You will, You can." You know the hot temptation of which I am the subject. Bring Your glory out of it, and keep me from the evil, and it shall be well." - Ruth Bryan

Dead men preaching

We have weak preaching from the pulpits. This is a fact, look at the spiritual condition of America. Where are the Jonahs that would call a nation such as this to repent? Where are the men who would cry out 'flee the wrath to come!'?  There is no unction from the Holy Spirit and way too much ear tickling going on. There is no fear of God, no trembling at His word! There is NO desire to go deeper into the things of God - most are satisfied with surface knowledge. There is complacency, few understand or realize we are in a spiritual battle that must be fought daily! We are to run the race accordingly, not loosely, or flippantly. We are to live for the glory of God, to follow hard after Him. We are to die to self, and STRIVE for holiness as well as staying on the narrow path. Self-proclaimed preachers are NOT proclaiming the whole counsel at all. Most are more concerned with their salary than they are with the souls that sit under their watered down preaching.

Seminaries churn out men like an assembly line, as though the preaching of God's word is a career choice. God must CALL a man to preach, then gift and empower him to do so.
Many celebrity type pastors are using their title as a means to fleece, and this is going on in Reformed camps as well as the usual word of faith camps. Sin is seldom expounded upon and church discipline is little practiced. NO ONE is warning sinners to forsake their sins and cry out for mercy! That type of message would be too 'unpleasant' for the masses, and it would NOT win a man the popular vote. Many preachers are not even born again, they are driven by their own flesh and sinful motives. The pews are filled with unregenerates as well, what a sad shape this nation is in!

To sum it up, there is a famine in the land, a withholding of truth, of preaching the whole counsel. This is God's judgment upon America for it's desire to worship a 'god' of its own understanding. We need to pray diligently for this, and all nations. America is more concerned about 401k's, politics, bank accounts, material possessions, and 'self' than they are about their eternal fate. Americans are easy prey for Satan and his minions, and rightly so. When darkness is preferred, when the God of the Bible is rejected, mocked and His word trampled underfoot, what is left but swift, severe judgment? It is coming, and NO ONE is warning sinners! Habakkuk 3:2b comes to mind, 'in wrath, remember mercy'.

This quote is from A. W. Pink and says it all...

All that you have said is true, Lyn. People that you would think should know better do not, they love the lies their favorite blind preacher tells them because he releases them from the guilt of their own sins by any form of a gospel that does not require repentance from sin and belief on Christ. To them the defense of their idol preacher is more important than defending the faith or glorifying the Lord Jesus. Anything except suffering for the cross of Christ is their mantra. Yet they have the gall to demand 'respect' and to be shown 'love' when they mock my Lord at every turn, at every keystroke, at every word they speak. I'll not be giving in to that demand.
