Precious Jesus

"Afresh, precious, precious Jesus, I resign this body to You, for doing or suffering, for living or dying. Will You accept it? Will You use me for Your glory more than heretofore, that You may have some little return for all the benefits You have done to me? Oh, do grant this request; my heart longs for it, my spirit pleads for it; and "if You will, You can." You know the hot temptation of which I am the subject. Bring Your glory out of it, and keep me from the evil, and it shall be well." - Ruth Bryan

Finding that 'balance'

The following post by Jon Gleason reflects much of what's been on my mind lately...

If Satan can’t push us into unbelief, blatant rebellion , or complacency, he’ll push us into harshness.  He might prefer theological liberalism, feminism, immorality, and dishonesty, or to see us complacently drifting along, doing nothing for the Lord.
But if he can’t get that, because we are too zealous, too committed, too firm in belief, he’ll tempt us to be proud of our rightness and zeal.  The result, invariably, is to twist us into messengers of a harsh and compassionless Gospel which is no Gospel at all, and can even lead to cruelty and oppression, all in the name of “being right.”
Either way will do for Satan.  Anything to get us away from truly honouring our Lord, anything to keep us from giving out a true Gospel message of purity, truth, compassion, and mercy.
Fred Phelps just died, so some may think of him.  But probably every one of us tends towards either unbelief / weakness or pride / harshness.  Satan will find your buttons and push them.  You don’t have to be like Fred Phelps to pervert your message and your life.
May the Lord keep us true and tender. {emphasis mine}
James 1:20
For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.

Good post to ponder, reflect and I pray we would heed in our own lives by going before the Lord asking Him to search our hearts and find any wicked doings in us. May the Lord remember His GREAT and WONDERFUL NAME and grant us true repentance and eyes to see the humility of CHRIST. May He open our eyes to see His purity, His gentleness, His Humility, His righteousness that we would desire Ooooh to be so much more like Jesus. May we be more like Job and less like Bildad. Who although Bildad's theology was scriptural and was correct that -God is just--but, His (application) of that theology with Job was WRONG. Bildad had forgotten God's love, mercy, and goodness. Yes , God is Holy but don’t forget His love. YES God is Just but don’t forget His mercy. ONLY Jesus can give us good nutritional BALANCE-"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom and KNOWLEDGE OF THE HOLY ONE IS UNDERSTANDING"-Proverbs 9:10 emphasis mine

Amen Linda...it's good to hear from you!

Christianity seems to be on either side of these extremes; either legalistic, oppressive and unloving. Or liberal and extremely shallow. Either way, they are both very dangerous!

Thank you for the comment, it's nice to know you are doing okay. Love you as well dear sister.
