Precious Jesus

"Afresh, precious, precious Jesus, I resign this body to You, for doing or suffering, for living or dying. Will You accept it? Will You use me for Your glory more than heretofore, that You may have some little return for all the benefits You have done to me? Oh, do grant this request; my heart longs for it, my spirit pleads for it; and "if You will, You can." You know the hot temptation of which I am the subject. Bring Your glory out of it, and keep me from the evil, and it shall be well." - Ruth Bryan

The Power of God

I've noticed those who hold to a 'free will' theology have no understanding of who God is, nor do they desire to go deeper into the things of God.  They believe what they believe and that is that! I have many posts on this blog concerning the glorious attributes of our Sovereign God, this is another such post; from A. W. Pink...

Part 1: Excellencies Which

Pertain to the Godhead as God

9. The Power of God

WE CANNOT HAVE a right conception of God unless we think of Him as all-powerful, as well as all-wise. He who cannot do what he will and perform all his pleasure cannot be God. As God has a will to resolve what He deems good, so He has power to execute His will.
The power of God is that ability and strength whereby He can bring to pass whatsoever He pleases, whatsoever His infinite wisdom may direct, and whatsoever the infinite purity of His will may resolve . . . As holiness is the beauty of all God’s attributes, so power is that which gives life and action to all the perfections of the Divine nature. How vain would be the eternal counsels, if power did not step in to execute them. Without power His mercy would be but feeble pity, His promises an empty sound, His threatenings a mere scarecrow. God’s power is like Himself: infinite, eternal, incomprehensible; it can neither be checked, restrained, nor frustrated by the creature (S. Charnock).
"God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this, that power belongeth unto God" (Ps. 62:11). "God hath spoken once"; nothing more is necessary! Heaven and earth shall pass away, but His word abides forever. "God hath spoken once"; how befitting His divine majesty! We poor mortals may speak often and yet fail to be heard. He speaks but once and the thunder of His power is heard on a thousand hills.

The LORD also thundered in the heavens, and the Highest gave his voice; hailstones and coals of fire. Yea, he sent out his arrows, and scattered them; and he shot out lightnings, and discomfited them. Then the channels of waters were seen and the foundations of the world were discovered at thy rebuke, O LORD, at the blast of the breath of thy nostrils" (Ps. 18:13-15).

This should be a great comfort to every Christian, but alas, those who would resort to their 'free will' cannot be blessed by these facts presented by Pink. For to do so would put the Sword of the Spirit through their idol exposing it for the fraud it is. It is the deceitful lust of man (not unlike the Jamsco/Roen discussion) that would have their ill-perceived 'free will' trump the total sovereignty of God, thereby causing them to miss entirely the fact of the Gospel-He chose us, we did not choose Him-and the glories of the Lord Jesus.

It is truly amazing the lengths sinners will go to to justify their ungodly, unbiblical stance. Deception is such a deadly thing, and very powerful. I give the Lord praise that He guides His elect in all truth, and He protects us from false teachings and erroneous beliefs.
