Precious Jesus

"Afresh, precious, precious Jesus, I resign this body to You, for doing or suffering, for living or dying. Will You accept it? Will You use me for Your glory more than heretofore, that You may have some little return for all the benefits You have done to me? Oh, do grant this request; my heart longs for it, my spirit pleads for it; and "if You will, You can." You know the hot temptation of which I am the subject. Bring Your glory out of it, and keep me from the evil, and it shall be well." - Ruth Bryan

My Testimony for Christ

MY TESTIMONY

~Up until the fall of 2003, I lived the most sexually immoral, godless life one could imagine. My sin of choice was homosexuality.

~Before I continue, I want to make clear that homosexuality is not genetic; it truly is a sin of choice. Homosexuality is birthed out of lust. Romans 1:24 says, ‘wherefore, God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves’. God gives them over because they refuse to repent and believe. An interesting find on a word study of the word ‘lust’ took me from the Greek word ‘epithumia’; meaning -‘a desire for what is forbidden’-, to the root word ‘thoo-mos’, which translates ‘the wine of passion, inflaming wine, which either drives the drinker mad or kills him with it’s strength.’

~ The more I read God’s word, the more I come to understand just how wicked and vile the human heart truly is, which is where lust lies. In Matthew 15:19, Christ teaches this, “for out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies; these are the things which defile a man”. The word fornication is from the Greek word ‘porniea’ from which we get our word ‘porn’. It means ‘to act as a harlot, or indulge in unlawful lust, things that are forbidden’, it is defined by Thayers Greek definitions as ' adultery, fornication, homosexuality, lesbianism, intercourse with animals etc.' You can take it all the way back to the root word ‘pe-prasko’- which metaphorically means ‘sold under sin, entirely under control of the love of sinning’ .  Homosexuals are acting out and living out what lies within their own hearts! This is true with all sexual immorality; it is birthed out of the lust of the sinful human heart. It is also what defiles man, as Christ Himself teaches.

~Another key verse is found in James 1:13 and 14. James says,” Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am being tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone. But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed {or allured, deceived} by his own lust {or forbidden desires}.” God’s word makes it clear that all sin is chosen and acted upon by the sinner, as he/she gives in to the forbidden lust within their own hearts; not one person will escape accountability apart from repentance and believing in the Gospel. The body of Christ must understand this in order to prevent from compromising the truth when proclaiming the Gospel to homosexuals.

Now, back to my testimony…

Things had started to unravel for me not long before the fall of 2003, I was miserable, depressed, suffering financial problems, and drinking constantly. I even asked God at one point why he didn’t help me, but my conscience replied, ‘he’s not going to help you as long as you continue to live the way you are living.’ There comes a point when the conscience becomes seared, the mind given over to total depravity, and all hope is gone. I praise God that wasn’t the case with me. For anyone here who has come under the conviction of the Holy Spirit in regards to your sinful condition, I urge you to cry out to God as the tax collector did,- ‘O God, have mercy on me, a sinner’. There may not be another opportunity for you to do so. I say that because of the affect sin has on the heart. It hardens; after a period of time, the gospel no longer penetrates such a hardened heart. From his book, “Justification and Regeneration”, Charles Leiter says this,~quote~ “One of the most fearful things about sin is its power to harden the one who practices it. The deeper a man goes in sin, the less sin bothers him. It should shock us to remember that Adolph Hitler was once a little boy playing with toys just like other little boys. Yet, we must face the fact that the world is NOT the way it is because it has a few ‘bad’ people like Hitler; the world is the way it is because it is made up of MULTITUDES of people just like us. There is deep wickedness in each of us. If a motion picture of even our past thoughts, let alone our past actions, were to be played on a large screen before our family and acquaintances, EVERY ONE of us would run from the room in shame. Man knows the beginning of sin, but NO MAN has ever known the end of sin”~ unquote~

~The woman with whom I’d spent 13 years of my life had a daughter, I loved this child like she was my own and the thought of not seeing her every day was heartbreaking to me. So this weighed heavily on me as well. But, God does work all things for His glory.

~ In November of 2003, I received the most devastating news that anyone could ever hear, and I was brought to my knees. My proud sinful arrogant heart was shattered into a million pieces…my mom, who I love so much, was diagnosed with lung cancer. I remember driving home from work and crying so hard, I could barely see to drive; it was at that point I cried out to God, and he heard me! My mom has since gone on to be with the Lord, and I am thankful God used her to humble me, and save me! The best way I can explain what’s happened to me is with God’s word, from Ezekiel 36:25-32, God says, “Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean. I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols. Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit within you and cause you to walk in my statutes, and you will be careful to observe my ordinances…so you will be my people, and I will be your God. Moreover, I will save you from all your uncleanness, then you will remember your evil ways and your deeds that were not good, and you will loathe yourselves in your own sight for your iniquities and your abominations. I am NOT doing this for your sake,” declares the Lord God. GOD and GOD ALONE is responsible for changing me from the inside out.

~ In his exposition of Psalm 51:2 “Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin”, Charles Spurgeon says this…’it is NOT enough to blot out the sin, - his person is defiled. The dye is in itself immovable, and I, the sinner, have lain long in it ‘til the crimson is ingrained. But Lord, wash, and wash, and wash again ‘til the last stain is gone, and not a trace of my defilement is left.’

~I am a miracle of God, He took a middle aged woman who had lain long in sin; and in His timing, by His grace, He broke through years and years of rebellion and hardness in a way that only He could…not because I prayed a prayer, or made a decision, or walked an aisle; ~Paul Washer says this about these methods of salvation, quote- “As a result, the majority of Americans believe they have been born again/regenerated even though their thoughts, words, and deeds are a continual contradiction to the nature and will of God” unquote. God has done a work in my heart; that is why I can say ‘I am a new creation in Christ’! I have been born from above!
By the way, the little girl I mentioned earlier now lives with me; God has been gracious and is allowing me to raise her.

~ I praise the Lord Jesus Christ for taking the wrath of God upon Himself on that cross, for suffering the full force of God’s anger at my sins and satisfying that anger. I praise the Lord Jesus for being raised on the third day and giving me all hope of complete forgiveness, and eternal life. I praise the Lord Jesus that he saved a wretch like me….

Praise God for your wonderful testimony Lyn.
I've been preaching the gospel to homosexuals here in San Francisco for some time now and I'm sure you know all the arguments that get made.
But you are proof positive that nothing is impossible for God and whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved, no matter how grievous our sin.

I was saved from terrible drug addictions by the blood of the lamb. What cruel slavery I was under for decades. I had tried repeatedly to get free of it in rehab and by my own willpower, (what a joke! willpower, Lol)
but God set me free in the blink of an eye but at a high cost, the sacrifice of His beloved Son.

It's a pleasure to meet you Lyn. I believe it was on dear Jeans blog?

I ask for your prayers and you have mine always.

May the Lord be praised! God bless you brother Dani'El!; may we continue to proclaim His wonderful transforming truth to lost souls everywhere, time is short. Also, let us pray fervently for one another, for Jean, for our leaders, and for the return of Christ! What a wonderful God and Savior we serve!

Middle America Mama, you are so right, to God be the glory! He saved me, the wickedest and vilest of sinners; He saves to the uttermost all whom He humbles and draws to His Son. May He be forever praised!

Thanks for your testimony! As a person who is getting increasingly frustrated with the stubborn unrepentant nature of some homosexuals that I have encountered who time and time again have twisted God's Word around to suit their own needs and desires, to read your testimony has been a great and refreshing thing. Praise God for His mercy and grace that we wretched sinners are saved! I too sometimes struggle with homosexual thoughts - I don't act on them, but it makes me feel ashamed already just to have thoughts. In any case, like you, I too am saved by God's great mercy and thanks to Him, we can repent and be forgiven... Thank you again for your testimony! I hope that God will bless you and keep you faithful!

God bless you Jules. When a lost, unrepentant sinner goes to the length that many go to just to justify their 'defect', rest assured, that person 1. needs prayer 2. is still dead in his/her sins

This ridiculous argument that homosexuals somehow cannot 'help it' because they have forbidden desires is wearing thin as well.

Let's never forget this from 1 Cor. 10:13, 'No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.'

God bless!!

1 Cor 10:13 indeed! Hallelujah! Keep up the great work of this blog! God bless you too!

Btw, on A Little Leaven, a man named "Mark" keeps posting that being homosexual is a gift from God - he's had that 'debate' with many people before and never once did he want to listen to whatever people said and even used God's Word to justify how beautiful homosexuality is and that it is in the genes (justifying it by saying he is a medical practitioner). I noticed that you are engaging him in a debate as well. Perhaps it is time to let the argument rest? He has never listened to anyone else (even ex-homosexuals who tried to convince him to which he just called 'repressed homosexuals in denial'. So for your sake, sister, just shake your dust off your feet and leave. Hey, at least you tried. It's not our job to make someone listen or believe. It our job to only preach truthfully and lovingly.

Take care!

lyn said...

Jules, thanks for the info on Mark. You are correct, it's time to move on. May the Lord humble this lost sinner and save him while there is yet time. I fear it may be too late, God may have already 'given him over' to the sin Mark so dearly loves and defends.
May the Lord strengthen, and guide all whom He has, by His wonderful grace, saved.

The 36. chapter in Ezekiel is absolutely one of the finest passages in the Scripture, addition to Isaiah 6. :)

May God bless you and continue to manifest His holiness and beauty to your soul!

Hi Matti~I must agree, Ezekiel 36 is rich in meaning. It certainly brings to light what takes place when salvation comes, as well as who is responsible...our Great and Awesome God. It explains the new birth, being changed and regenerated from the inside out.
Thank you for the blessing; may Almighty God be gracious to each of us, even though we aren't worthy.

Hi lyn,
I came over here to read your complete testimony.

I like your explanation that homosexuality is a sin of choice and not genetic.

Maybe it is out of my ignorance but I always thought it was caused by somethng akin to possession or oppression by some demonic spirit.

The reason I thought this was because the men became feminite and talked with the same affectation and the women became butch or manly.

So, because so many were affected the same way I just figured it to be a common demonic influence.

Do you know of a reason the homosexuals do this?

lyn said...

Hi Cynthia-
I was always amazed how homosexuals behave. Lesbians abhorred the thought of being with a man, yet, they turn around and dress and act like men!?! I do believe it has to do with their aggression. The more aggressive type seem to be a bit more 'butchy'. The men are puzzling as well; they do not desire a woman, yet, they have feminine mannerisms. Maybe it's all part of the perversion, to lure the more masculine type with their femininity.
I personally chalk all of it up to having a 'depraved mind'. This is the root of the perversion, so to see women dress and act like men and visa versa is not too difficult to understand when you realize they have a mind that is reprobate, useless, unable to think or reason. This truly is a very dark, scary and deadly way of life. The grace of God is such a tremendous blessing, He rescued me from this horrific lifestyle. He could have left me there, until my conscience became seared and my mind totally worthless...I truly praise Him for His grace. My Lord Jesus Christ has rescued me from darkness! What amazing grace!

Thanks lyn.

Your explanation made more sense than my thoughts on the subject. I don't have many conversations on the subject of homosexuality but I feel better armed now if I should.

God bless and guard you continually!

Hi Lyn,
Powerful tesimony!
As to what you wrote here "There comes a point when the conscience becomes seared, the mind given over to total depravity, and all hope is gone. I praise God that wasn’t the case with me."

Praise God there was something in your heart that was still seeking the truth or a better way. Praise God, maybe someone was praying for you. Praise God He rescued you!!

Pease and grace, Sara

lyn said...

Hi Sara- thank you for taking the time to visit and read what God has done in me.
I cannot take credit for seeking Him in any way, for my heart was dead in sin {Eph. 2:1}. It wasn't until God broke my prideful heart and crushed me in a way that would draw me to Christ that I cried out to Him. He is worthy of all praise, honor, and glory, both now and through all of eternity!

Thank you for your testimony! This affliction is a difficult one.

Yes, I too think there are demonic spirits associated with it. Different types. You can begin to see it after a while and discern differences.

I do not think it good for Christians to dwell on such. Just resist the devil and he will flee from you. (The devil delights when we make a big deal over him.) The key is resistance. For a Christian to be a REAL one they must practice a LIFETIME of REPENTANCE. This is evidence of salvation. This is key for ANY sin.

Don't think of your sin as special or different. It is nothing new Scripture lists it only in the middle between gossip and idolatry. (Strategic location don't ya think?)

Of course, you will be treated different by others in the world and immature believers in church. Remember what God sees-- his holy bride washed white as snow.

I find reading books about idols of the heart to be helpful and instructive, be careful, there is much bad teaching on overcoming this sin. There is no easy path and God is not your therapist. Stay true to the Word of God.

One thing, introduce yourself earlier on. I was confused when you got to the part where you said the "woman I lived with." I had assumed you were a man who was cheating on his wife, I was confused for a bit thereafter too.

Testimonies like yours bring such glory to the holiness of our God and Savior. Thank you for sharing. I know you wrote this a long time ago, but I never knew you existed until I saw your comment on "MyWordLikeFire" just this morning.

I was talking to someone just last week about the causes of homosexuality, and that person brought up a "scientific" study that determined many women who were pregnant in concentration camps gave birth to children who turned out to be homosexuals, concluding, therefore, that very high stress levels would be a major factor to the developing baby. I, of course, shun that. Rather, I have heard that children who lived in concentration camps suffered terrible molestation at the hands of guards.

Some people, even those who are not same sex, cling to "scientific" reasons to justify perversions. It allows them to remain confidant and steadfast in their own dead nature. That's why testimonies such as yours and Lanagan's need to be declared and heard!

Thank you again. I'm so glad to discover your site. I plan to include it on my list of links at my own "fledgling" blog, if you don't mind.

In Christ,

Thank you, Lyn for your testimony. My best friend was a lesbian and also struggled w/alcohol and drug addiction. I would gently tell her that I really did not believe that she was a lesbian and that it was not natural or what God intended. We would fight about it but surprisingly she remained my friend. She died tragically a few years ago, I don't know what was truly in her heart, only God does. I pray that God was merciful with her.

Also, I work with a man who is a homosexual and one day he told me that he just got married to his partner. And, honestly, I did not know how to respond. I realized that he knew nothing of me and my beliefs and that I was living my Christian life at work on the down low, so to speak. It was then that I took the opportunity to share with him the Cross and how I am an ambassador for Christ. Since then he has been "friendly" in a polite way but really I can see that the sight of me makes him very uncomfortable. And I know it's not me, per se, it's the TRUTH that he see's and I can see it makes him uncomfortable. Please pray for him with me. His name is Rodney.

God Bless You, Lyn!

Meg

lyn said...

Hi Meg,

It broke my heart to read of your lesbian friend's death, and the cold shoulder you now receive as a result of sharing the glorious Gospel with your co-worker. His coolness towards you brought these passages to mind...'For we are a fragrance of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing; to the one an aroma from death to death, to the other an aroma from life to life.' 2 Cor. 2:15,16

I will pray for Rodney, he is in bondage to sin, this particular sin is very scary. It is a sin that, if left unrepentant of, will destroy both the physical and spiritual life of the sinner. I do not mean to lessen the severity of all sin, sexual sin does seem to hold a tighter grip due to the involvement of both mind and body.
May our Eternal Majesty receive all the glory for what He has done in me.

Wonderful power of God's salvation Lyn, His love and NOT giving up on you just like the woman searching for the lost coin-Luke 15:7-10 who is a picture of Jesus Christ not giving up on YOU and me and others. Oh, the joy you have with the Lord and the HOPE you have that Jesus IS the answer to this decaying world who is told the huge lie that there is no hope and just accept the defeat of sin and the lie that this is who you are just go for it and "feel" good. How satan just laughs with his egregious ways. This is why I love the verse that says "For whom the Son sets free is free indeed"-John 8:36.

Jesus set me free as well from the slavery of homosexuality and it's so wonderful to no longer have sin as your master ruling you with an iron fist, but Jesus Christ who is so gentle and humble in heart. Jesus restores your dignity and your worth all because HE is the ONE who truly loves us and he is the only one who can satisfy our every need and desire.

It's so wonderful to no longer be tortured and plagued by the day after day thoughts that sin hounds you with, but to KNOW the peace that passes ALL understanding--the Prince of Peace. I saw myself in Psalms 107..

Lyn, Here's my testimony if you ever would like to read it and be encouraged in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Is it so hard to believe that maybe, just maybe, a person might just be attracted to the same sex and not mean to be and that they are not possessed or just don't have God in their life? I personally have God in my life... I know I am a sinner and God has changed my life in so many ways... But He hasn't changed my sexuality or my mannerisms.... Maybe He doesn't think it is necessary!! And maybe that is something I have accepted! And to everyone, please don't label me or people like me as homosexuals... I am a born- again christian who happens to be attracted to the same sex!! Meg, the man that you work with actually wants nothing to do with you now because you haven't taken the time to get to know who he is... You have judged him on something you know nothing about... And as a gay man he has probably had enough of that in his life to even want to deal with you.... And you also were never a true friend to the woman who died in your life.... You would preach and preach but it wasn't because you cared... it was because of self righteousness... You've never lived the life so how can you judge!!

Leslie,
You could not be MORE WRONG when you say- "I know I am a sinner and God has changed my life in so many ways... But He hasn't changed my sexuality or my mannerisms.... Maybe He doesn't think it is necessary!!

Are you familiar with 1 Cor. 6:9,10?
"Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God. {vs 11} Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God."
Same sex relationships, thoughts, actions are an abomination to the Lord {Lev. 18:22}. God is holy, holy, holy and WILL NOT allow unrepentant homosexuals into His kingdom. Notice vs 11, 'such WERE some of you' - past tense. I.O.W., you NO LONGER practice this perversion. That is what repent means; even repentance must be given by God {2 Timothy 2:25}. The FIRST thing God granted me was repentance from homosexuality; I was convicted of my perversion/wickedness and cried out for His mercy and grace. He freed me, I no longer desire to sin against Him in this perverse act. I was granted 'godly sorrow' by God which led to repentance and salvation. Read 2 Corinthians 7:10.11 concerning this godly sorrow.

You also state this, 'I am a born- again christian who happens to be attracted to the same sex!!---I assure you, you are NOT born again. You are still dead in sin, cleaving to your perversion because the supernatural power of God to rebirth you from the inside out has NOT happened. The fact that you claim an attraction to women proves God has not been gracious to you. You are living a lie, justifying your perversion and trying to claim Christ as well. Repent, now. Flee your perversion. Cry out to God to save your deceived soul. You will die and face God's wrath if you continue justifying your perversion. Your actions and words prove your fruit is bad, you are a bad tree that bears bad fruit. Throw yourself at the mercy of God, Christ is your only hope. Remember these words, ''I tell you, I do not know where you are from; DEPART FROM ME, ALL YOU EVILDOERS.'-Luke 13:27

What do you think 'evildoers' means? Here is the translation-from the Greek word 'adikia' which means-'unrighteous, sinful, unrighteousness of heart and life'.---to be contd...

God has already said homosexuality is a sin that must be forsaken, His word makes it clear those who practice this sin will not have eternal life. Even if you cherish this perversion in your 'thought life' you are guilty. How do I know? Leslie,

Do you understand what that passage is saying? If you lust after someone sexually, whether it be hetero, or homo, you have sinned!! Read on in Matthew 5:29,30 and see the image Christ gives as to the length we should go to in removing sin, not that we should dismember ourselves, but the idea is that sin should be repulsive to us. We should desire to have it removed, going to great lengths to keep it from us. You are making excuses for the lustful perversion in your heart, and this will cost you for all of eternity. You cannot willfully practice sexual sin and belong to the Lamb of God. There is not ONE THING you can do to save your soul, for salvation is of grace {Eph. 2:8.9}. This is why I plead with you to throw yourself at the mercy of God and cry out to Him, as the tax collector did, to be merciful. You may claim to recognize you are a sinner, but you have no clue what the doctrine of repentance means. From Luke 13:5, the words of Christ Himself, "I tell you, no, but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish."-to be contd...

From Luke 13:5, the words of Christ Himself, "I tell you, no, but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish."

TO preach against homosexuality is not judging, it is showing love. If we love lost sinners as Christ did, we will give them truth from God's word. You have no biblical understanding of what 'judging' actually means, so please, I ask you to refrain from misusing this much overused word.

You are NOT a child of God if you still desire women, if you still lust over them you are dead in sin. The fact that you lust and are attracted to them proves such.
May God grant you repentance that leads to salvation.

One thing that you will always see is that one of the homosexual couple will be the "male" (more masculine) and the other will be the "female" (more feminine). Deep inside they are admitting they KNOW that what they are doing is unnatural. I have never seen two lesbians who are BOTH masculine or BOTH feminine nor have I seen gay men where BOTH are masculine or BOTH are feminine. They can't get away from the TRUTH of what created us to be...male and female joined together...
God bless you for a beautiful testimony. More and more I realize the meaning of the words of a particular song, OH HOW SWEET TO TRUST IN JESUS. Joetta Smith, missionary in Kenya

Mama Jo,
Thank you for your response; I never picked up on that point. Yes indeed, they are admitting God's truth by one being 'fem' and the other 'butch'. I have had folks ask me why it is they do this; your response has helped shed light on the reason behind this. Even when I was dead in this sin, I could not explain or understand why lesbians desired to look and act like men, considering they did not want to be with men. It all goes back to the sinful, forbidden desires of the heart that is dead in sin.
May the Lord bless you as you work for Him in His calling on your life.

In Christ,

Lyn

37explemphI have stumbled upon your testimony and I am so moved. The LORD is so good and HE gets all the glory! Your testimony struck me that it isnt about homosexuality it is about the sin...how it applys to all that sin and all that need cleansing. OH HOW GLORIOUS it is to be cleansed and how the LORD truly gives us a new heart..I am so happy for you and GOD BLESS YOU for sharing your story.

lyn said...

I am delighted that our Lord gets all the glory; He is worthy to receive all our praises! You are so right, it is about sin. The world has gotten into the habit of categorizing sin, re-labeling it and lessening its severity. Let us not forget the one sin that sent all the world under the curse of sin...the sin of disobedience. Oh if we could only understand God's hatred of all sin, what fear it would put in us, what a deterrent this fear would be against sin.

Thank you so much for your kind words.

Hi Lyn,

Thanks for leaving a comment on my little blog :) I just read your testimony, and all the comments too! I too am so grateful that the Lord showed mercy on me to first help me understand, and then grow to hate sin (to hate sin and not the sinner, including myself)

This path that the Lord has brought me to was very difficult in the beginning, but as I continued on with Him, he broadened the path beneath my feet and taught my feet to be nimble, to dance with the joy of the Lord.

Psa 18:33 He made my feet like the feet of a deer and set me secure on the heights.
Psa 18:34 He trains my hands for war, so that my arms can bend a bow of bronze.
Psa 18:35 You have given me the shield of your salvation, and your right hand supported me, and your gentleness made me great.
Psa 18:36 You gave a wide place for my steps under me, and my feet did not slip.

So often when I let my thoughts carry me to places that depress me and make me feel terrible, I sink deeper and deeper, and then the Lord gently reminds me that it isn't about me and what I can do, but it's all about Him and what He as already done. When I get the order correct, my heart lifts back up out of the miry muddy bog and He makes my heart sing once again because of all the wonderful things He did, does and will do for those He has chosen, His lost sheep, which we once were, but now we are found!!! Halleluja!!!

Amen Susan, very well stated sister. It seems like its more 'two steps forward, one step back' way too often, but as you said, God reminds us our sins have been atoned for. We have so very much to be thankful for!

Hello Beth,
Thank you for your visit to my blog. All praise and glory for what God has done in me and for me goes to Him, it is by His grace I am saved, it is because of what Christ has done; being a sin offering for me and undergoing wrath as God spent His wrath on His own Son. This is really mind boggling to me...

True believer's - love the Word! Truth! :) David Simmons was once hopelessly addicted to alcohol and drugs. Aggressively hating God, his life mirrored a runaway freight train. But entering a Treatment Center in 1995 saw the beginning of continuous sobriety/recovery through Alcoholics Anonymous. With genuine zeal he shared this new-found A.A. philosophy, telling his “story” at meetings, Treatment Centers, and CCA (jail), meanwhile participating in over 1,900 A.A. meetings, starting new outreaches, and even managing a “Halfway House.”

Equally as the fringe areas of his life were righting themselves, his alcohol/drug addiction also seemed finally under control. Yet he still had an eternal situation – before the God of the Bible – that had never been dealt with. In 2004, something profound occurred which changed his entire world view. Now his passion is telling the sequel to his story.

I have serious issues with AA because they claim they can help the addict in their struggles against addiction. However, the word of God tells me otherwise. All sin is a bondage, as the Lord teaches in John 8:34, ' "Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is the slave of sin.' Also from 2 Peter 2:19b, 'for by what a man is overcome, by this he is enslaved.' Now, if man is in bondage to his sins, enslaved to them, how can a man-made program free them from that bondage? It cannot. Christ tells us how we become free, ' "So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.' John 8:36. Freedom from sin and it's enslavement is comes in one step, not twelve, and that step is believing on the Lord Jesus Christ.

I highly recommend a dear brother in Christ's blog, John Lanagan and his blog - http://mywordlikefire.com/

John is a former addict who exposes the false hopes and promises of AA.

Wonderful testimony, Lyn! I'm a Christian who struggles with homosexuality, obviously if you remember me. I didn't struggle with it as long as you did though. I didn't actually start giving in to my temptations until August of last year though. Before that, I had gfs, but those relationships never worked out bc of my sin, I think. I hope one day God will deliver me like he's done you. Sometimes, I get so afraid that God'll just give up on me, and that my struggle between the lord and I creates a rift in our relationship. I just ask for prayer. I never understood why people pray for each other. My friend told me that your prayer should only be between you and God. I guess the more people pray for you, the more God listens. Idk. Lol Anyway, please pray for me. Idk what he's done to you, but I want it. Haha I don't believe that's coveting either. Also, I guess every dictionary says something different about Porneia. Strong's Concordance defines it as whoredom or idolatry. That isn't the point of my post though.

lyn said...

Anon,

When I lived a homosexual life, I was not a Christian, so I did not struggle with this sin, I embraced it and loved it. It wasn't until God crushed me under the weight of my sins, regenerated me and gifted me with faith to believe that I fled my former ways.

I do not mean to be mean, but I must give you the truth. If you are having homosexual sex, you are not a Christian. God has not regenerated you, your conscience is dealing with you, but it seems you are suppressing it. John 3:3 says you must be born again, this is a supernatural work done by God, nothing you say or do can bring this about. Power over sin comes through this re-birthing by God. I urge you to cry out to God, pleading with Him to show you just how wicked you are, and in desperate need of His grace. You struggle because you keep feeding your lust.

As for the definition of porneia, yes, that is what Strong's says, however, if you go to the root word of porneia, which is porneuō, you'll find this definition 'to act the harlot, that is, (literally) indulge unlawful lust (of either sex), or (figuratively) practise idolatry: - commit (fornication).'

In the New American Standard Exhaustive Concordance, we find this definition 'porneia; from G4203; fornication: - fornication , fornications , immoralities , immorality , sexual immorality, unchastity.'

To say it plain and simple, any sex outside God's ordained covenant of marriage between a man and a woman is sin. That is why we find this in Hebrews 13:4, 'Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous." Do you see that? God is going to judge you because of your sexual immorality. You are in desperate need of true salvation that only comes through His grace. Christ atoned for sin, He satisfied God's wrath for all who will believe. He has made a way for sinners because all are without hope, helpless, not able to fix what's wrong. When God unleashed His wrath on His own Son, payment was made. Does that mean you can continue on in your sin? Look at God's word, "What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it?" Romans 6:1-2

You are in serious trouble friend, God's wrath abides on you at this present moment. You may claim to know Christ, but He does not know you; your actions prove such. I beg you to fall before Him, cry out to Him, and KEEP doing it until He saves you, truly saves you; not some superficial lip service you give, but an inner transformation done by the Most High God.
I will lift you in prayer.

I am happy that you found the Lord and have left a life of immorality.
I am utterly dismayed, however, that you scape-goated all your whoas on homosexuality, as if heterosexuals never go through these same things. You have used your own debatched life, coupled with a horrendous abuse of the Scriptures, as a weapon against millions of homosexuals who do NOT live the lifestyle you lived. Your troubles had nothing to do with being homosexual, but with the choices you made in life - and homosexuality was NOT one of those choices, unless you were a heterosexual committing bisexual acts. You could be a virgin and still go through those things, and it is revolting that you would use the precious Word of God to condemn an entire class of people because of your shortcomings. You mentioned Hitler; and the doctrines you teach were the very same doctrines that Hitler used to torture, nightmarishly experiment on, and slaughter hundreds of thousands of homosexuals. And your misrepresentation of homosexuality has just put another gun in the hands of these anti-gay terrorists. While the Bible most certainly denounces both heterosexual and homosexual FORNICATION, there is not one single verse in all of Scripture which condemns BEING homosexual, and neither is there a single place which denounces the married union of homosexuals, and I challenge you to provide the slightest biblical evidence to the contrary. It is my prayer that the Lord helps you to see that there is a complete wall between being homosexual and living a wicked life; I also pray for all of the lives and soles that will be destroyed by the backlash of your careless words.

Rev,

Your unwarranted attack on my testimony shows your own lack of discernment on what the word of God actually states about homosexuality.

Let's start with your accusation that I 'scapegoated' all my troubles to homosexuality. That is absolutely false; sin breeds more sin. I drank because I was miserable in the sinful life I chose, the homosexual relationship was/is one of misery because all homosexual relationships are based on LUST, not love, and lust breeds from a selfish heart. Romans 1:27 is my 'proof text', " and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another." Burned in their desire is a reference to lust, which is what drives any sexual sin. I tried to cope with my horrific relationship by numbing myself to the horrors of the reality of the relationship.

You also falsely accuse me of condemning 'an entire class of people', which is hideous, to say the least. You accuse me of abusing scripture, based on nothing more than your opinion. You are invited to show me where I have erred, using scripture to prove your accusation.
Homosexuals are not an 'entire class of people', they are in fact living in unrepentant sin, rebelling against God and His word. This is not a genetic defect, all sexual sin is chosen by those who pursue it. Homosexuals lust, just as heterosexuals do. It isn't a 'homo vs. hetero' battle, as you try to make it. ALL SEX, read that again, ALL SEX outside of God's ordained covenant of marriage between one man and one woman is sin. You sir need to fall on your face before a holy God and repent, you are in desperate need of grace and mercy. You do not have understanding or discernment concerning God's word and sin, repentance, and wrath.
The doctrines I teach came straight out of Holy Writ, your issue is not with me, but with the One who wrote what I said and gave me the understanding of His writings. Jehovah God is who your argument is with, for His word condemns homosexuality...period.

As for your 'challenge' - "here is not one single verse in all of Scripture which condemns BEING homosexual, and neither is there a single place which denounces the married union of homosexuals, and I challenge you to provide the slightest biblical evidence to the contrary." that's easy -let's start with Leviticus 18:22, 'You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination.' Other verses include Leviticus 20:13, Romans 1:26,27; 1 Cor. 6:9-10; 1 Timothy 1:10, Jude 1:7. As for marriage, God ordained the covenant of marriage in Genesis 2:24, "For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh." Christ states this in Matthew 19, "And He answered and said, "Have you not read that He who created them from the beginning MADE THEM MALE AND FEMALE, and said, 'FOR THIS REASON A MAN SHALL LEAVE HIS FATHER AND MOTHER AND BE JOINED TO HIS WIFE, AND THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH'? "So they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate."
It is clear from Scripture, marriage is designed by God for one man and one woman, anything other than that is sin.

Repent, for you are in sin and under wrath.

Here is another link you need to read, it gives stats as to what really happens in homosexual unions; the infidelity, addictions, and the agenda behind this abomination - http://iamhis-lyn.blogspot.com/2013/03/what-homosexuals-wont-tell-you.html

read about the gay agenda here - http://library.gayhomeland.org/0018/EN/EN_Overhauling_Straight.htm

You call yourself a reverend, you are a wolf in sheep's clothing. May God deal with you according to your abominations, your twisting of Holy Writ and defense of sin is horrendous. You are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath.

Darrel said...

Mr. Cunningham,
What wickedness you exhibit, and all in the Name of God. "Refuting anti-gay lies with the Word of God"????? Wow! First of all, you as a student of the Word of God, know already that the things you are teaching are lies (read Romans 1 again). You seek to change the Word of God to meet your specifications, what else is new, satan does the very same thing (read Isaiah 14 and Gen. 3 again). So there was another holocaust in Germany, "hundreds of thousands of homosexuals" killed by Hitler. Got any proof? No, I didn't think so.

You contend that there is no Scripture that condemns "being" homosexual. There are, you've read them, and you've ignored them just as you do all those verses that call you to repentance. Every unregenerate human heart is wicked (read Jer. 17 again), and out of that wicked heart comes wicked thoughts and deeds (read Matt 6 again). You want proof? So do I. You cannot "be" something without acting like what you claim to be, so please produce ONE living human being who claims to "be" homosexual and has never committed the act thereof either physically or in his mind (read Matt. 5 again).

Word games don't cut it here, as you've already found out. Neither does parading your wickedness in the Name of God. To be very blunt, you, Mr. Cunningham are guilty of hate speech. Your words speak hate toward the God who created you, they speak hate to those who have been delivered from the power of the sin of homosexuality and they speak hate to those who believe your lies because you do not turn them to the Lord Jesus Christ, but to sin and shame. There is no humility before God in anything you say. There is no rejoicing over a sinner who has been saved from YOUR sin of choice, but a quick rebuke came out of your mouth to excuse the sins of others. Finally, your lies will assure many a soul's place in hell because you did not turn them to the Lord Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of ALL their sins, especially that of homosexuality.

The question is will you continue your lies, or will you humble yourself before the God of whom you speak falsely by repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus for the salvation of you soul?

Wow. Praise Jesus for the miracle and power of His shed blood. Your testimony is such a blessing and thank you for sharing. My sister has a similar testimony. She has recently surrendered to The Lord Jesus, repented and has put her faith and trust in Jesus Christ. She was a lesbian for 25 years and a drug addict for the last 3. The pain, rebellion, & willful sin drove her crack and meth. We are only a year apart and I remember pleading, praying and crying for my sister to stop this rebellion to Gods holy word and come to Jesus. Every time I talked with her I would give her the gospel. It was after I shared with her Romans 1:28 & Titus 1:16 that she was able to stop and realize that even through she thought she knew God....God didn't know her. Luke 13:27.
She has since repented and is saved and living for Jesus and no longer for herself. She is dying to her flesh daily and with the precious Holy Ghost she is growing in The Lord. She is serving The Lord and goes out with us to give the gospel whenever she can.
Never give up on giving the gospel and praying for people to come to Jesus.
God bless you. Looking forward to seeing you in Heaven. 😊
