this is from Grace Gems ...
It is the same hand!
(J.C. Ryle)
Are you a distressed believer? Is your heart . . .
pressed down with sickness,
tried with disappointments,
overburdened with cares?
To you I say, "Behold the cross of Christ!" Think whose hand it is that chastens you; think whose hand is measuring to you the 'cup of bitterness' which you are now drinking. It is the hand of Him who was crucified! It is the same hand which, in love to your soul, was nailed to the accursed tree! Surely that thought should comfort and hearten you. Surely you should say to yourself, "My crucified Savior will never lay upon me anything that is not for my good. There is a needs be. It must be well."

God is always good. We either believe that he is always good or we don't.
When trials, pain, temptations and dangers our failures or successes come, we will do very well to learn to trust in the God who gave us his SON. HE would not give us his precious son if he didn't love us. That's why we cannot let those outer circumstances, define our lives. We HAVE to learn the attributes of God.
We need to understand one thing and that is God's love is not a pacifying sissifying love it is a PURIFYING LOVE. God's love is way higher and beyond our understanding of love and that's why many people misunderstand God's love.
It's the same with animals. Take a dog, their way of love is wagging their tail, licking your face or using the bathroom on the floor and you come home later to still see a dog glad to see you but a mess to clean. Take a cat and I have 2. Their way of love and giving is to kill lizards and bring them to you as a present. Lord have mercy.. lol. Our human love is much higher than animals. Just think of how much higher is God's love that we don't understand.
One verse that's so true but blunt is Proverbs 12:1 "Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge but he who hates correction is stupid"..
lol, ruminate on that for awhile..
God bless you Lyn
I can relate to both the dog and cat thing...
