This is a serious problem...Christians feverishly debating theological issues constantly on the internet. All the while, people are dying without Christ while we argue with one another over secondary issues! Where is the heart that breaks over lost souls? I pray God will give me, and you, such a heart...A Young Man's Invitation to a Life of Sacrifice from HeartCry Missionary Society on Vimeo.

Hi lyn:)
I agree.
As much as I love to argue theology, the last several months, I have laid it aside. I think of what Paul wrote to Titus:
But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.
Knowledge puffs up but love builds up.....or something like that!:)
you are exactly right, knowledge does indeed puff up, I have been caught up in this sin myself, debating for the sake of being 'right'. I see this all day long all over the internet and have stepped away from being a part of it. I am convinced our Lord must be grieved over this, it seems to consume many who name the name of Christ.
bless you dear sister
Being someone that tends to be involved in some theological debate, thanks for the reminder. As much as I like to talke theology, it is no match for being involved in evangelism and missions.
agreed, it is so easy to get caught up in these debates. We need to re-direct our focus; every day over 100,000 people die, most step into a Christ-less eternity. We must correct error, defend and preach the true Gospel, and combat all the false teachings by using the sword of the Spirit- the motive being the sake of souls that hang in the balance.
Robert Murray McCheyne once said, 'it is not great talent, it is not great ideas that God uses; it is great likeness to Jesus Christ'. Christ was humble, meek, loving and in total submission to God's will. He boldly and fearlessly proclaimed God's truth, and He exposed the false teachings of the Pharisees and Sadducees. His focus was NOT on this world, His focus was on the lost.
I fall way short
Profound, and I want to be a man of God that God can use. Washer is right about the prayer, and the blogging, and about preaching Christ, and Him crucified.
Thank you for posting this. We love you, sister.
John and Kristin
bless you both, I love you as well.

I love Paul Washer and he' tres a propos-(spot on) with his sermons
But one thing does bother me about this video. I want to give him the benefit of the doubt here but may I ask why he's only addressing men? Women are supposed to share the Gospel as well.
I do get on the internet more than I should I admit. And I agree with him that majority of times we are wasting our time debating. I used to debate often but I backed away from such unfruitful labor, pride and arrogance. I saw that it is just Satan sidetracking us from fulfilling the great commission souls are at stake here. anyhow what in the world do unbelievers see? We need to be extremely careful what all we say on the net.
Now, if someone does have an honest question I don't mind answering. I do believe we should be ready to give an answer to everybody who asks for the hope we have~ and I do want to be wise in the way I act toward outsiders(even on the internet) and make the most of every opportunity.
I believe the internet offers such opportunities but should not replace the real world
There is one blog I went to and this one Sikh person I shared along with the owner of the blog the gospel. I believe people can be reached through the internet and that's not wrong. I've been praying for this person for weeks now that God would save him/her.
So I'm just saying share at your work place when you can or when God grants the opportunity but I don't totally agree with Washer with the opportunities we also have been granted by God to share on the internet.
There have been people reached for Christ just the same.
I mainly go to this Christian forum to pray because really that's my gathering with other Christians. The fellowship there is wonderful. There are several who don't hold to certain views as I do but we put those aside because they are non essentials and worship the Lord and pray for one another. those other things just fade away and I love the joy and peace and unity in the true body of believers..
Thanks Lyn
and Ma is right about that knowledge puffing up. I've seen some really nasty attitudes and I used to be one but thanks to Jesus He's teaching me to "follow the way of love"
Linda,
I believe Paul Washer is addressing men preparing themselves for the ministry of evangelism. Women can share the Gospel with lost sinners, usually family members, friends, and co-workers, but we do not go out into the streets or stand in the pulpits to do this. Evangelists are typically men, that does not mean we do not share truth or defend truth, but keep in mind the woman's place is not in the pulpit or in street preaching. The greatest evangelists of all time were men; the Apostles Paul, Peter and John turned the world upside down with their message. There is no biblical example of women street preaching. The Apostle's example was the greatest One of all...Christ. Women do have a significant role within the body of Christ, we are to raise Godly children, honor our husbands and be gentle and quiet spirits, to mention a few.
I recommend this for you sister...http://www.sermonaudio.com/sermoninfo.asp?SID=8611170490
and this from John MacArthur's website...http://www.gty.org/resources/search/women
hope this helps!
yes, good sermon by Washer. One thing that God has placed on my heart recently is the importance to NOT debate men and the importance of submitting to them even on a forum to the authority above me to correct a male even when that brother is in the wrong. I used to not do that and even didn't see it. God has really been teaching me the importance of authority and order.
Thanks for the sermons Lyn
I knew not to go out into the streets preaching lol....
Sometimes though that ugly side of me flares up and wants to put some backbone in some of these wimpy men. I get so ANGRY at how feminized these men are. Maybe God can raise up another Deborah??
I feel your frustration sister, where are the men with backbone who will boldly profess the truth? I think they are more concerned with winning internet debates over theology than they are about professing the truth to a lost and dying world. Maybe God will raise up a Deborah if someone doesn't step up to the plate. It is definitely a matter of prayer...
